Our Commitment to Your Privacy

Solaris operates primarily on your local machine. This means that, for most core functionalities, your personal data never leaves your device and is not transmitted to our servers or any third parties. We are transparent about the information we access and how it's used to enhance your experience.

Information We Access and How It's Used

Solaris may access certain types of information, exclusively to deliver its advanced features:

1. Location Data

What is accessed: Approximate or precise geographic location (e.g., latitude and longitude).
Why: To accurately calculate the sun's position (elevation and azimuth) relative to your horizon. This is fundamental for syncing your monitor's brightness and color temperature with natural circadian rhythms (sunrise, sunset, solar noon, twilight).
How it's handled: Location data is processed strictly locally on your device. It is not transmitted to Solaris servers or shared with any external services for tracking or analysis. You will be prompted for permission before location data is accessed.
Optional Feature: Location data may also be used to display local weather conditions within the application, if you choose to enable this optional feature. This information is also fetched and processed locally.

2. Google Fit Sleep Data (Optional)

What is accessed: With your explicit permission, Solaris can access your sleep duration, start and end times, and sleep sessions from your Google Fit account.
Why: This data allows Solaris to construct a more accurate and dynamic personalized sleep schedule (regime). By understanding your actual sleep-wake patterns, Solaris can precisely synchronize your monitor's display transitions with your physiological circadian rhythm, providing tailored health and wellness insights.
How it's handled: Access to Google Fit data requires your explicit consent through the Google Fit API. All analysis of your sleep data is performed locally on your device. Your Google Fit sleep data is not stored on Solaris servers, nor is it transmitted to us or any third parties. It is used solely for the in-app calculation of your personalized circadian rhythm.

3. Application Usage for Game Mode

What is accessed: Solaris locally monitors the list of currently running applications or processes on your system.
Why: This is essential for the "Smart Game Mode" feature, which detects when you start a game and temporarily suspends automatic brightness/color temperature adjustments. This prevents distractions during gaming sessions.
How it's handled: This monitoring occurs strictly locally on your device in real-time. Information about which applications are running is never stored, transmitted, or shared. It is used instantaneously to determine when to activate or deactivate Game Mode.

4. Device and Monitor Information

What is accessed: Technical information about your operating system version, internet connectivity status, and direct hardware information from your monitors (e.g., monitor names, capabilities, current brightness/color temperature settings via DDC/CI).
Why: Device information helps ensure the application functions correctly, aids in debugging, and allows us to improve stability. Monitor information is necessary for the "Multi-Monitor Mastery" feature, enabling direct hardware control over individual display settings.
How it's handled: Interactions with your monitor hardware are direct and local. Technical device information is collected minimally and primarily used for application functionality and stability analysis. We do not use this information to identify you personally or for any marketing purposes.

Data Security

Solaris employs standard industry practices for data security where applicable. All locally stored configuration data (e.g., brightness curves, game mode exclusion lists) is kept on your device. For data accessed from external services like Google Fit, Solaris strictly adheres to the respective API's security protocols and permission models, ensuring data is handled responsibly and only with your explicit consent.

Your Control

You maintain full control over your data within Solaris:

Location Access: You can revoke location permissions at any time through your operating system settings.
Google Fit Access: You can revoke Google Fit access at any time through your Google Account settings.
Game Mode: You can customize or disable the Game Mode feature, including managing your whitelist/blacklist of applications.
