Solaris provides comprehensive control over all connected displays, ensuring a unified and harmonious viewing experience across your entire workspace. Whether you have a single external monitor or a complex multi-display setup, Solaris empowers you to fine-tune brightness and color temperature with precision and ease.

With Multi-Monitor Mastery, you can:
- Automatically Detect all active displays.
- Apply global adjustments to all monitors simultaneously, maintaining consistency.
- Set unique brightness and color temperature offsets for individual displays, tailoring each screen to your preferences.
- Leverage DDC/CI integration for direct, hardware-level control, ensuring reliable and high-quality adjustments.
Managing Your Displays
Solaris makes it simple to manage your display setup through a dedicated section in the application UI.
Automatic Monitor Detection
Upon launching Solaris, the application automatically detects all connected monitors and lists them. Each monitor is identified by a friendly name (e.g., Primary Monitor, Dell P2419H), and Solaris indicates if a monitor is controllable via DDC/CI.
Global Sync vs. Individual Control
Solaris offers flexibility to adjust all your monitors in unison or to customize each one independently.
Synchronized Adjustments
To apply changes across all your displays:
- Navigate to the Multi-Monitor section of the Solaris dashboard.
- Enable the Sync All Displays toggle.
- Use the Global Brightness Offset slider to adjust the brightness of all connected monitors simultaneously. This offset is applied relative to Solaris's primary circadian brightness curve or your current manual brightness setting, ensuring all displays scale together.
Individual Display Settings
For fine-grained control over specific screens:
- In the Multi-Monitor section, you will see a list of your detected monitors.
- Select the monitor you wish to customize.
- Use the Individual Brightness Offset slider associated with that specific monitor. This offset allows you to make one screen brighter or dimmer than the others, without affecting the global sync. Individual offsets are applied on top of any global adjustments or the circadian curve.
Color Temperature Control
Similar to brightness, Solaris allows you to manage color temperature across your multi-monitor setup:
- When Sync All Displays is active, color temperature adjustments (driven by Circadian Mode or manual overrides) will apply uniformly to all displays.
- For individual customization, you can set unique Color Temperature Offsets for each monitor, ensuring specific screens match your preference without disrupting others.
DDC/CI Technology
Solaris integrates directly with your monitor's hardware using DDC/CI (Display Data Channel Command Interface). This advanced communication protocol allows Solaris to send direct commands to your display, resulting in:
- Precise Control: Accurate and immediate adjustments to brightness and color temperature.
- Reliability: A stable connection for consistent performance.
- Expanded Compatibility: Support for a wide range of modern monitors.
Solaris indicates which monitors are controllable via DDC/CI in its interface. While most modern displays support DDC/CI, some older models or specific configurations might have limited support.
Tips and Troubleshooting
- Monitor Naming: Solaris attempts to retrieve user-friendly names for your monitors (e.g., "Dell P2419H"). If a generic name like "Generic PnP Monitor" appears, it typically means the EDID (Extended Display Identification Data) lacks a specific model name.
- Monitor Not Responding: If a monitor doesn't respond to commands, or isn't listed as DDC/CI controllable:
- Ensure DDC/CI is enabled in your monitor's on-screen display (OSD) settings. Some monitors require this to be explicitly turned on.
- Check your display cables (e.g., HDMI, DisplayPort). Some cables or adapters may not fully support DDC/CI.
- Update your graphics card drivers to the latest version.
- "No DDC/CI" Label: If a monitor is listed but marked "No DDC/CI", it means Solaris cannot establish direct hardware communication. Brightness control for such monitors might be unavailable through Solaris.
