Solaris uses your geographic location to calculate the real-time position of the sun (elevation and azimuth), including sunrise, sunset, solar noon, and twilight. Based on these precise calculations, it smoothly transitions your monitor's brightness and color temperature according to a customizable circadian curve you define.
What operating systems does Solaris support?

Does Solaris work with all monitors?
Solaris relies on DDC/CI (Display Data Channel Command Interface) for direct hardware communication with your monitors. While most modern monitors support DDC/CI, some older models or specific display setups (e.g., certain docking stations, KVM switches, or GPU passthrough configurations) might not be fully compatible. If your monitor isn't responding, please check its On-Screen Display (OSD) settings to ensure DDC/CI is enabled.
Can I customize how my monitor's brightness changes throughout the day?
Absolutely! Solaris features an Interactive Brightness Curve Editor. You can use intuitive Bezier curves to fine-tune exactly how your monitor's brightness responds to solar elevation throughout the day. We also provide several pre-defined profiles like Bright, Balanced, and Soft, and you can preview your changes in real-time on the luminosity graph.
How does multi-monitor control work?
Solaris offers comprehensive control over multiple displays. You can:
- Unified Sync: Adjust all connected monitors at once with a single control.
- Individual Control: Set unique brightness offsets or manual brightness levels for each display, allowing you to perfectly tailor the lighting for your entire workspace. Solaris communicates with each monitor independently via DDC/CI.
What is Dynamic Color Temperature and how does it help?
Dynamic Color Temperature automatically shifts your display's color temperature throughout the day. It smoothly transitions from a cooler 6500K (Daylight) during peak daylight hours to a warmer 3300K (Warm) as the sun sets. This feature helps protect your eyes from excessive blue light exposure in the evening, promoting better sleep and reducing eye strain by aligning your screen's output with your natural sleep-wake rhythm.
How does Smart Game Mode prevent interruptions?
When Smart Game Mode is active, Solaris automatically detects when you launch a full-screen game or a specified application. During these sessions, it temporarily locks all brightness and color temperature adjustments, preventing distracting shifts and ensuring a consistent viewing experience. You can customize this feature by adding specific applications to a Whitelist (always lock adjustments) or a Blacklist (never lock adjustments), giving you full control over when Game Mode activates.
Can I manually override the automatic adjustments?
Yes, you always have manual control. You can manually adjust your monitor's brightness or color temperature at any time. Solaris will respect your manual input. Depending on your configuration, Solaris may resume automatic adjustments after a period of inactivity or when you explicitly reactivate Circadian Mode.
My monitor isn't responding to brightness or color temperature changes. What should I do?
- Check DDC/CI: Verify that DDC/CI (sometimes labeled as "DDC/CI Control," "External Control," or "Brightness Control") is enabled in your monitor's On-Screen Display (OSD) menu.
- Monitor Compatibility: Confirm that your monitor officially supports DDC/CI. Some older or specialized display devices may not.
- Graphics Drivers: Ensure your graphics card drivers are up to date. Outdated drivers can sometimes interfere with DDC/CI communication.
- Restart Solaris: A simple restart of the application can often resolve temporary communication glitches with your display(s).
Does Solaris collect my personal data or location?
Solaris may collect approximate or precise location data solely for the purpose of accurately calculating solar cycles and adjusting your monitor settings for your specific region.
