Welcome to Solaris! This guide will help you quickly install, set up, and experience the core benefits of automated brightness and color temperature control tailored to your natural circadian rhythms.
1. Installation
Getting Solaris onto your Windows machine is straightforward.
- Download the Installer: Visit the Solaris GitHub Releases page (or your designated download source) and download the latest
Solaris-Setup-X.X.X.exeinstaller. - Run the Installer: Double-click the downloaded executable file.
- Follow On-Screen Prompts: The installer will guide you through the process. Accept the license agreement, choose an installation location, and click through to complete the installation.
Once installed, Solaris will launch automatically.
2. First Launch & Initial Setup
Upon its first launch, Solaris will guide you through a brief setup to ensure optimal performance.
- Location Access:
- Solaris requires your geographic location to accurately calculate the sun's position (sunrise, sunset, solar noon, etc.) for precise circadian adjustments.
- When prompted, allow Solaris to access your location. This data is processed locally and is crucial for the app's core functionality.
- Connect Google Fit (Optional):
- For the most personalized experience, Solaris can optionally integrate with Google Fit to understand your sleep patterns.
- If you choose to, you will be directed to authorize Solaris to access your sleep data from Google Fit. This helps Solaris synchronize display adjustments with your actual sleep-wake rhythm. You can skip this step and configure it later from the app's settings if you prefer.
- Monitor Detection:
- Solaris will automatically detect all connected DDC/CI compatible monitors. You should see them listed in the application's dashboard.
3. Experiencing Circadian Mode
With the initial setup complete, Solaris begins its work immediately!
- Observe the Dashboard: The main Solaris dashboard provides a real-time overview. You'll see a dynamic curve illustrating how your brightness and color temperature will adjust throughout the day based on the sun's elevation.
- Automatic Adjustments:
- Brightness: Your monitor's brightness will now smoothly and gradually adapt to the natural light cycle. It will be brighter during peak daylight hours and dim as evening approaches, mirroring the ambient light around you.
- Color Temperature: As the day progresses towards evening, Solaris will gently shift your display's color temperature towards warmer tones (reducing blue light) to support your natural sleep-wake cycle.
- Smooth Transitions: Notice how changes are subtle and gradual, designed to be imperceptible and avoid sudden, distracting shifts.
Congratulations! You are now experiencing the core benefits of Solaris, providing a more comfortable and eye-friendly computing environment.
