System Requirements
System Requirements
This section details the necessary operating system, hardware, and software prerequisites for installing and running Solaris effectively. Meeting these requirements ensures optimal performance and access to all features.
Operating System
Solaris is designed exclusively for the Windows operating system.
- Minimum: Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (64-bit) or later.
- Recommended: Windows 10 (Version 1809 or newer, 64-bit) or Windows 11 (64-bit) for full feature compatibility, including modern UI theming and optimal system integration.
Monitor Compatibility
To enable Solaris's core functionality for automatic brightness and color temperature adjustments, your monitors must support the Display Data Channel / Command Interface (DDC/CI) standard.
- DDC/CI Support: Most modern monitors (generally manufactured within the last 10-15 years) are compatible with DDC/CI. This standard allows Solaris to communicate directly with your display hardware to precisely control brightness and color temperature settings.
- Multi-Monitor Setups: Solaris fully supports multiple display configurations. Each connected monitor intended for control must individually meet the DDC/CI compatibility requirement.
- Color Temperature Range: Monitors should be capable of displaying a broad range of color temperatures, specifically supporting transitions between 3300K (warm) and 6500K (daylight) for the dynamic color temperature feature.
Internet and Location Services
Active internet connectivity and enabled location services are crucial for Solaris's intelligent automation features.
- Internet Connectivity: Required for:
- Accurate real-time calculation of the sun's precise position (sunrise, sunset, solar noon, twilight) based on your geographic location.
- Integration with optional services, such as Google Fit.
- Location Services: Windows Location Services must be enabled to allow Solaris to determine your current geographic location. This data is essential for personalized circadian rhythm calculations and ensuring precise synchronization with natural light cycles.
Other Requirements
- Processor (CPU): Any modern multi-core processor (e.g., Intel Core i3 equivalent or higher, AMD Ryzen 3 equivalent or higher).
- Memory (RAM): 4 GB RAM or more is recommended for smooth operation.
- Storage: Approximately 200 MB of free disk space for application installation and data storage.
- Google Account: (Optional) If you intend to use Solaris's integration with Google Fit for personalized health and wellness insights (e.g., sleep data synchronization), a Google account linked to Google Fit is required.
- Network Firewall: Ensure that your operating system's firewall or any third-party security software does not block Solaris's internet access or its ability to communicate with your monitors via DDC/CI.
