By mirroring the sun's path throughout the day, Circadian Mode provides a dynamic and adaptive viewing experience that supports your natural sleep-wake rhythm and reduces eye strain.
The Science Behind Circadian Mode
At its heart, Circadian Mode operates by calculating the precise position of the sun relative to your geographic location. Using high-precision astronomical algorithms, Solaris tracks:
- Sunrise and Sunset: The start and end of daylight.
- Solar Noon: The peak of the sun's elevation.
- Twilight Phases: The periods of natural light before sunrise and after sunset.
Based on these real-time calculations, Solaris intelligently adjusts two key aspects of your display:
- Brightness: As the sun rises, your monitor gradually brightens, reaching its peak intensity around solar noon. Conversely, as the sun sets, the brightness smoothly decreases, preparing your eyes for nighttime.
- Color Temperature: To protect your eyes from stimulating blue light as evening approaches, Solaris dynamically shifts your display's color temperature. During the day, it maintains a crisp 6500K (Daylight) white point. As the sun descends, it gradually transitions to warmer tones, reaching a soothing 3300K (Warm) at night. This automation helps maintain your body's natural melatonin production, crucial for a healthy sleep cycle.

Customizing Your Circadian Experience
While fully automated, Circadian Mode offers extensive customization options to tailor the experience to your preferences:
- Interactive Brightness Curves: You can visualize and fine-tune how brightness responds to solar elevation using intuitive Bezier curves.
- Presets: Quickly switch between predefined profiles like Bright, Balanced, Soft, or select Custom to create your own unique curve.
- Real-time Preview: See the impact of your adjustments instantly on the luminosity graph, allowing for precise control.
- Dynamic Color Temperature Range: Although automated with the solar cycle, the transition range for color temperature is carefully designed to provide a comfortable shift from daylight to warmer tones.
Interacting with Other Features
Circadian Mode works in harmony with other Solaris features:
- Multi-Monitor Mastery: Adjustments made by Circadian Mode can be applied globally across all your connected displays, or you can set individual brightness offsets for each monitor.
